Smash Me!

It's almost my birthday month. (I like to think I get a whole month, but who am I kidding?)  I have decided what I want most is a Smash folio. Like this one....
It's basically a journal for crafty scrappy artist like muah.
The inside pages look something like this...
It's filled with journal prompts. Pretty patterns and inspiration.
Perfect.
Yes please, and I'll have another.
Mind you I've never actually held one of these smashing product in my hand...
But I'm sure I'll love it.
I mean, it comes w/a pen that is also a glue stick.
HELLLLOOOOOO.
Can you say, best birthday (month) EVER?

I Believe I Can Fly...

Love. Love. Love these wings that belong to my baby Evareaux.  They can only be more adorable when paired with a massive petticoat tutu and a field of wild flowers.  Does it get any better than this?

This layout was created for one of my submissions to a magazine.  (Whenever they call, I submit, submit, submit!) I like the finished product.  The call was for a project created using eyelets.  So I went a little wild with the crop-o-dile.  It was a lot of fun to make.  The quote is perfect for the photo, I think.
I remember seeing this quote framed in my Mom's home growing up, or some variation of it.  Now my baby will grow up to read it on a scrapbook page about herself.  That's one of the reasons I love scrapping.  Everything is taylor made and thoughtful....even pages that were begun for the purposes of submitting have so much meaning.

For this layout I sketched out the butterfly wings on patterned paper (called Twitterpated--so fitting) before cutting them out.  Some of the eyelets have brads placed in the middle to add more interest.  I am also loving these flower elements from Basic Grey called Bloomers.  They are begging to be placed on so many different projects.

This page makes me think of my own wings...
I'm ready to let my dreams take flight....

Hello world...

(I picture myself on a big empty stage yelling it at the top of my lungs with my arms stretched out wide.) Hahahahaha.  That feels so silly to say but, hello world.  Finally, here I am joining the scrap blog scene.  I feel like this has been a long time coming.  I follow so many lovely crafters and Mommies regularly.  It just makes sense to join in the fun!  Actually running a blog of my own and figuring all of this stuff out may take some time.  Hopefully my attempts at navigating this project will go well....We'll see, I guess.  Just hang in there if you are joining me early on.  There have already been some bumps in the road. You would not believe how long it took me to figure out something so simple as a background for this thing! They started talking about gadgets and footers and headers and so on (By "they" I mean the screen).  Sheesh! It's enough to make a usually tech-friendly girl run screaming. (I did a few times, by the way.) But here I am.  So here we GOOOOOOooooo.

I figured my first post should include a scrap project since this IS the main reason I've started the blog.  This is a layout that I completed in one hour during National Scrapbook Day this year.  It's based on a sketch by Lisa Day from a challenge with bigpictureclasses.com Typically I do not work from other scrappers' sketches.  This time, well let's face it, I was going for the prize.  I didn't win. Boo. :/ Even so I was inspired to make this layout....so, that makes me happy. :)

I loved that it enabled me to use a long title.  At last I was able to use that lovely teacup embellie from American Crafts along with these silly photos of my babe. The patterned paper is by Basic Grey, stickers by Heidi Grace, and of course Thickers letter stickers.  Love it.  BTW the cup was empty when she got ahold of it that day (Phew! Daddy won't have to be mad about that one!)

Thanks for stopping by my little 'ol blog.  Come back soon.  I always find some scrap to write about...
